PETITION: Petition: Stop the dog meat trade in India>
Target: TR Zeliang, Chief Minister, State of Nagaland, India
The Food Safety & Standards Regulation of 2011 does not permit dog meat consumption in India. However, even though this ban exists, it is not being enforced. The cruel and inhumane dog meat trade is ubiquitous throughout the Indian state of Nagaland. Dogs are often times tied up in sacks with their muzzles bound shut from the moment they are captured until they are slaughtered. They typically wait alongside the remains of the dogs that were butchered before them. The law explicitly states that this practice is illegal, please enforce this law, put an end to this barbaric behavior, and shut down this industry for good.
