As the name would imply, the Deutscher Wachtelhund comes from Germany. In the late nineteenth century, German hunters wanted to recreate the Stoeberer. This breed was known for its tracking abilities, they were about as strong as a Bloodhound. They bred with Stoeberer with Spaniels and made the bird dog known as the Deutscher Wachtelhund. This breed is usually owned by hunters and are not very common in North America.



Irish Red and White Setter History

The Irish Red and White Setter (IRWS) are a bird dog that dates back to the ancient roman times. They appear like a typical setter. They use their nose to find the bird and then “point” at its location to the hunter. Most setting breeds were bred to be able to cover the type of ground they worked in. You can probably guess where the Irish setter originated. They are a very loyal and reliable breed and are typically friendly to be around.
