The Drentsche Patrijshond is a Spaniel breed that can be dated back to the 16th century Netherlands. It more than likely began as breeds from France, Spain, and Germany. In their home country of the Netherlands they were typically referred to as partridge dogs. They were obviously used for hunting and more specifically retrieving game birds. The Icelandic Sheep Dog (Icie and Icelandic Spitz are common nicknames) is an interesting breed. First, it has two dewclaws on its back legs.
