Drentsche Patrijshond - Dutch Partridge Dog History

The Drentsche Patrijshond is a Spaniel breed that can be dated back to the 16th century Netherlands. It more than likely began as breeds from France, Spain, and Germany. In their home country of the Netherlands they were typically referred to as partridge dogs. They were obviously used for hunting and more specifically retrieving game birds. However, they were also good at hunting vermin and all around farm dogs. They are recognized by many Kennel clubs throughout the world.

Weimaraner History

The Weimaraner is also known as the Raner. It is a relatively large dog that began in the early 19th century. Like most dog breeds, it was originally bred for hunting. Early on they were favored by royalty. They were used to hunt large game such as boar, bear and deer. Only later were they used for hunting small animals like fowl, rabbits and foxes.
The Weimaraner is an all-purpose gun dog. The name comes from the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Karl August. He was an avid hunter. It obviously wasn’t from his name, but rather his court, based in the city of Weimar (now in the state of Thuringia in modern-day Germany).

All dogs have the potential to develop genetic health problems as all breeds are susceptible to some things more than others. However, the one positive thing about getting a puppy is that you can avoid this as much as possible. A breeder should absolutely offer a health guarantee on puppies. A reputable breeder will be honest and open about health problems in the breed and the incidence with which they occur. What are the training requirements?

This is an intelligent dog that will be a little bit challenging to train. "A lot of times diet is done on a per-dog basis. Each one is unique and has different dietary requirements. Most dogs in the U.S. are overweight. A mix like this one that is prone to hip and elbow dysplasia should really be on fish oil and glucosamine and chondroitin supplements as soon as possible. A good diet to look into is Raw Food Diet. A raw food diet will be especially good for the Wolf background.

Overfeeding any dog is not a good idea as that can really exacerbate health problems such as elbow and hip dysplasia.
