The Jack Russell Terrier or Parsons Russell was developed in the early 19th century in the South of England, by Reverend John Russell. That is where the name comes from. He set out to create a breed of dog that for fox hunting. He wanted them to be good to hunt with while on horseback. Reverend Russell had a passion for fox hunting and the breeding of fox hunting dogs. The Jack Russell has a wide variance in size, although they are almost always very small. These little dogs are incredibly energetic and spirited. They are typically very friendly and enjoyable to be around - just high energy.



Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka History

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka might go back as far as the 1700’s. They obviously come from Russia. It is speculated that they came from Napoleon and were known as the French Bolonka. The Russians weren’t exactly known for breeding dogs that didn’t have a working purpose. They liked to breed dogs that were working breeds. When Krushchev came to power in 1960 he lifted the breeding of non-superfluous breeds. They were bred as the locals started to reside more in high-rise apartments and there was a need for smaller dogs that would act as companions. These dogs are becoming more and more common. They are sometimes referred to as the dogs of the 21st century. They started to become more common in the United States after 2002.
