Toy Fox Terrier History

The Toy Fox Terrier, also known as an American Toy Terrier or an Amertoy. This is a small terrier breed type of dog. They were originally created as a larger version of the Smooth Fox Terrier. Terriers are a very old breed of dog, going back at least six hundred years in England. They were commonly used to rid their locale of vermin. But their initial purpose was to rout foxes from their dens. Although they are a very old breed they were only recognized by the American Kennel Club in 2003. They are known for being smart dogs, that are also very loyal and protective. They are typically a higher energy dog.



Transylvanian Hound History

The Transylvanian Hound is sometimes referred to as the Transylvanian Scent Hound or the Hungarian Hound. They were favored among aristocrats in Hungary throughout the Middle Ages. They were used to help them hunt a variety of big game animals. They used to be recognized as two varieties - tall and short. Depending on the size of the dog - bison, bear, boar and lynx were favorite targets. They were nearly extinct at the beginning of the twentieth century. Only the tall variety of the breed remains today, primarily in Hungary and Romania. In 2015 they were recognized by the American Kennel Club in the Foundation Stock Service.
