Xoloitzcuintli History

The Xoloitzcuintli is also called the Mexican Hairless Dog or Xolo. It comes in standard, miniature, and toy sizes. It is of Mexican origin. Ceramic sculptures of hairless dogs have been found in burial sites in ancient Mexico. Unfortunately, they were sometimes used as food. Of all things, they were one of the first breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club. This recognition came in 1887. They come in a variety of sizes, and exhibit strength and agility. There are actually two types - both hairless and coated. They are a high energy dog with a strong hunting temperament.

Yakutian Laika History

The Yakutian Laika is a versatile dog with an excellent sense of smell. They have a strong hunting drive and obviously a lot of endurance to pull. They are an arctic breed that was originally developed by the Yakuts. They were an indispensable hunting and working dog for these people. They are a tough, hardy breed that will thrive in cold weather.
